Letter – Chris Gallacher: Where is the media coverage of our heroes?
Am I the only person who is sick to the back teeth of hearing the endless free propaganda being produced by the media about, “Jihadi John”?
Every day and night ongoing discussion about how he was brought up; who was to blame, what a nice boy he was, what a bad boy he was, can they make up their minds? No, but it fills our screens night after night. He has had more free publicity than any thing ISIS could produce itself. Who ever and whatever he may have been he is now a killer and that is not up for discussion.
Where was the publicity for the soldiers who received the Victoria Cross and the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross this last week, barely mentioned in the news but we were inundated by articles about a Jihadist who revels in cutting heads off innocent people, we need to seriously look at our core values and start to redress the balance.
We should bury the propaganda and praise the good work exercised everyday quietly and confidently by our servicemen and women across the world in defence of this country. We should be shouting loudly their praise and shame on the media for sensationalising the evil that these same service personnel have to fight and risk their lives for day after day.
