Steve Turner Selected for Middlesbrough South & East Cleveland
Steve Turner has been selected by branch members as UKIP’s prospective parliamentary candidate for Middlesbrough South & East Cleveland.
Steve is a 42 year old father of three who lives with his wife Andrea on the outskirts of Redcar.
Originally from Dormanstown, just outside of Redcar, he left school at 16, going on to build a successful career in retail as well as jointly owning a small local business. Over the years Steve has worked with people from all walks of life and hopes to bring that experience and knowledge into his campaign to be this constituency’s next member of parliament.
Mr Turner said “UKIP want to see an ethical Australian-style points based immigration system, protection for our NHS from the political elite’s privatisation plans, and to ensure that those who are on the minimum wage are taken out of income tax altogether. It is becoming increasingly apparent that we are the only alternative to Labour here and it will be a two horse race between the both of us come next May”.
Steve believes that it is the duty of every elected official at either national or local level to represent their constituents first and foremost. He’s on record saying that candidates with strong ties to an area who also have broad life experiences to draw from make better politicians than the current crop, many of whom went straight from university to work as aides and researchers in the Westminster bubble.
Following the selection UKIP’s North East MEP, Jonathan Arnott, added “Steve has a wealth of life experience behind him so can understand the everyday pressures that the people of Middlesbrough South & East Cleveland face. Steve would make a fantastic MP and I’m pleased he’s part of our people’s army in the North East.”
